Scene Study

Intermediate/Advanced/Master Class Scene Study

Scene Study

Once students have completed the 12-Week Foundation Course, they will be placed by their teacher into an appropriate ongoing Scene Study class. At all levels, students prepare scenes (with partners), Object Exercises (individual), and/or monologues. Work continues on each assignment until satisfying the objectives identified by the instructor. Self-critiquing skills are addressed further to continue developing the actor’s self-reliance.

Alexander Technique

Body & Movement

Alexander Technique

Good use of the self is characterized by an overall pattern of economy and freedom of movement. It means, for example, using no more and no less tension than to cross the stage or having the time to breathe with a phrase. The Alexander Technique develops skills that prevent useless habits and self-defeating ideas, all the while awakening the actor to his/her remarkable capacity for change and growth.

Personalization

The Fusion of Personal Experience & Imagination

Personalization

The awareness, clarity, and connectedness of the actor’s mind, heart, and body are essential in bringing a fictional character to a complex, spontaneous, and compelling life. As actors, we examine the human heart and human behavior from our personal perspectives, which always includes personal experiences and our imagination. They can’t be separated. Personalization leads the actor to more fully understand concepts/tools, ‘transference’ (‘substitution’), and when and how to use this tool of ‘transference’ effectively.
