The necessity to expand to a larger facility led to conducting classes in 1988 at the (then) Callboard Theatre on Melrose Place. Again, in 1989, with a growing enrollment and additional faculty, he moved to a studio on Robertson Boulevard. The expansion continued until he finally moved, in 1994, to the Studio's current location on Melrose Avenue and Ogden - which houses a Main Stage, Little Theatre, multi-purpose Studio space, and Administrative Offices. The Studio work has evolved to include a formidable, dedicated and professional faculty with extensive backgrounds in teaching, acting and directing. There are currently 5 Master Teachers for scene study teaching 5 different types of acting classes, plus Master Teachers in Alexander Technique, Singing for Actors, and the newly created course, Personalization. (See Faculty.)
In 1998 and 2000, the Studio hosted Master Classes taught by the legendary actress and renowned acting teacher, Uta Hagen. The Howard Fine Acting Studio was also proud to host her rare public speaking engagements at the Paramount Studios Theatre and the Writers Guild of America Theatre. The Studio is honored to have been part of the historic documentary teaching series, "Uta Hagen's Acting Class" and continues to enjoy Miss Hagen's personal and professional influence on the Studio's ever-evolving work.
