Acting Technique: 9 Week
*Howard’s Recommendation!* For over 30 years, Howard Fine has taught a comprehensive acting technique class in Los Angeles called the Foundation. The Foundation is our deluxe acting intensive – what we’re known for and often what sells out quick! Originally an entire semester long, it has since been distilled into this 9-week intensive suitable for actors of all levels. A fun, challenging, thorough approach to the craft, with the goal of giving actors a complete toolbox to master scene work, book professional auditions, and work at the highest levels of the industry. This deluxe acting technique class is the best value for any serious actor looking to hone their craft, and it is our faculty’s preferred way that actors join the studio. A complete A-Z of acting where you study with the master teacher right from the beginning and continue on with a foundation in the craft.
If you have prior training, or are unable to commit to the full schedule of the deluxe acting intensive, we offer an alternative 6 week version covering the highlights of the deluxe version.

As a new Actor, and a transplant to Los Angeles, acting studios are certainly in abundance but good ones are not. Not all acting studios are the same! From the moment I walked into Howard’s studio for a Monday night audit, I knew it was the right fit for me. From Foundation to Scene Study, each course added a new dynamic to my acting toolbox. So that each time that I picked up a script, or walked on set, or participated in a table read or rehearsal, the experiences were never the same, because, as Howard puts it, “Technique, when used correctly, is a gateway to spontaneous life….”
I started acting 7 years ago and went through numerous acting teachers until I found my home at the Howard Fine Acting Studio. I’ve been through so many teachers whose tips and tricks turns ones performance into a lifeless event, so I am truly excited to be part of this studio’s classes
I came into this class thinking I knew how to act. Little did I know, I was “acting” instead of merely being a human being living in circumstance. Howard teaches you everything you need to know to not “act” but simply live.
The impact the Howard Fine Acting Studio has had not only on my love, technique, and craft of acting, but also on the way I show up as a well-rounded individual in this world is profound and enough to last a lifetime. The dedication, skill-level and community I unlocked when I came to this studio has opened many doors in my life and I am deeply grateful and proud to say I study here! There is a REASON the studio heralds the reputation its earned– if you’re still thinking about it do it!
I’ve been studying with Howard for a year now and not only have I seen growth and development in my craft, but found a seriousness and a joy in working like never before. Howard is the most professional, ethical and well-respected acting teacher that I have ever worked with. His name is known in the industry, and being accepted into his masterclass have been an honor and a privilege of which I am most grateful.
