Improv for Actors Online
Improv classes in Los Angeles or online improv classes are an important part of an actor’s training. Improv is an acting tool that has never been as essential as it is in today’s industry. Whether it’s ad libbing in a commercial audition, finding playfulness and substantiating story in rehearsal, or taking creative liberty on set of a film or television show, today’s actor needs to be confident and ready to improv at a moment’s notice.
CASTING DIRECTORS, PRODUCERS, AND MANY DIRECTORS OCCASIONALLY ASK ACTORS TO IMPROVISE CERTAIN PARTS OF DIALOGUE OR ACTIONS WITHIN A SCENE. BUT WITHOUT PROPER IMPROV TRAINING, ACTORS ARE LEFT TO THEIR OWN DEVICES TO BE CREATIVE ARTISTS RATHER THAN INTERPRETIVE ARTISTS. MANY ACTORS FEEL PARTICUlARLY CONFIDENT WITH SCRIPTED MATERIAL, BUT PANIC WHEN ASKED TO MAKE SOMETHING UP ON THE SPOT. THE ABILITY TO BE COMFORTABLE WITH SPONTANEITY AND RISK TAKING HAS BECOME AN INTEGRAL PART OF ANY ACTOR’S SKILLSET.
THE SKILLS YOU LEARN IN OUR ONLINE IMPROV CLASSES ARE DESIGNED TO HELP YOU THRIVE WHEN IMPROVISING ON SET OR IN AN AUDITION. YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A SKETCH COMEDIAN TO IMPROVISE WELL! WE BELIEVE ALL ACTORS CAN HANDLE IMRPOV WITH EXCELLENCE AND EASE WHEN GIVEN THE PROPER TOOLS.

IMPROV CLASS ONLINE
THE IMPROV TECHNIQUE TAUGHT AT THE HOWARD FINE ACTING STUDIO FOCUSES ON RELATIONSHIP AND THE TRUTHFUL USE OF SELF. ACTORS WILL LEARN TO FIND EACH CHARACTER WITHIN THEMSELVES AS OPPOSED TO CREATING CHARACTERS BASED ON JUDGEMENTS AND OVER THE TOP CARICATURES. In our improv classes, you will learn how to find yourself in each character and how to “Yes And” with your scene partner. Through different games and exercises, you will gain the necessary tools to fill your toolbox and build the foundation for successfully improvising on the job!

IMRPOV FOR ACTORS LEVEL 1
In Level One, students will learn the fundamentals of improv in regards to spontaneity and risk taking. Akin to barre work in ballet, this class will give actors the foundational tools needed to succeed in improv.
IMPROV FOR ACTORS LEVEL 2
Continue to hone your improv skills in Level 2! In this section, actors will continue to build upon the fundamentals of improvisation through games and exercises, but will also begin to perform short improv scenes within the safety net and framework of guided exercises.
IMRPOV FOR ACTORS LEVEL 3
The training wheels come off in Level 3 and actors will begin to perform fully improvised scenes in a multitude of environments, situations, and characters. Upon completion of Level 3, actors will be equipped to improvise on set or in auditions within the context of the script and their character.
