For best chances, please submit your application as soon as possible. The deadline to submit is October 31st, but it is likely that all selections will made before then.
This intensive is open to all local actors, but particularly great for those who live outside the LA area as well. It provides an excellent opportunity to participate in an advanced level class over four consecutive days.
This class is a deep dive into scene work catered to the film & Television actor as well as the theatre actor. Students are assigned a scene partner and a script to work on over the duration of the four days. This class takes the fundamentals taught in the technique course and gives the actor the opportunity to put it all into practice. While students are not required to have completed the 6-week Acting Technique course in order to take this class, it is encouraged. Student’s who have not had previous studio training should read Howard’s Book, Fine on Acting, before the class begins.
The studio provides a wide range of furniture and set pieces for actors to create an authentic on set/on stage experience. Actors will learn the key elements to mastering physical life and how to be fully alive in the given circumstances. Focus is put on the fundamentals of working moment to moment, identifying and fixing individual acting habits, partner work, proper rehearsal techniques, personalization, and much more.
This class meets for 4 consecutive days.
TIME: 9am-6pm PT
*There will be a break for lunch. You may bring your own or opt into our catered lunch option at the time of registration. Please do not schedule any other commitments/ meetings over the four day period. Class may likely end earlier each day, but please plan to be available until 6pm.
DATES:
Thursday— November 30
Friday— December 1
Saturday— December 2
Sunday— December 3
Cost of 4 Days is $595.00.
THE REQUIREMENTS:
All students must fill out an application and receive acceptance in order to register. Completion of other studio courses prior to taking this intensive is encouraged, but not required. Those who have taken the 6-Week Acting Technique course (formerly known as The Foundation) are more likely to receive initial approval. This class is designed for experienced actors and is not suitable for beginners.
As a participant, you will be asked to prepare your actor’s homework before the first class. This includes (but is not limited to) reading your full script, working on the 8 Steps, memorizing your lines word for word, and meeting your partner to rehearse prior to class. Those of you who live out of town may rehearse initially over Zoom, but will need to arrive 1-3 days prior to November 30th to rehearse with your partner in person. Scheduling is to be worked out with your partner once assigned.
Each student will put up work on either days 1 & 3 or 2 & 4 (determined by studio), but you are required to attend all four classes. A major part of the learning takes place when you are NOT performing so we cannot make an exception to this rule. You will also be required to rehearse with your partner in the evenings after class (particularly on the days you do not put your scene up).
WHAT TO EXPECT:
This is an intensive by nature. The days are long. The work will challenge you. But the class is a ball! Come prepared to dive in and work hard, but know there will be lots of fun and time for connecting with your fellow classmates as well.
This is a very unique and special class that is only offered twice a year. It provides a great opportunity for breakthrough and growth in your own career, but also a chance to build friendships and working relationships with your classmates though the unique bonds that form during this intensive.
Once approved and selected, students will receive an informational email with further details regarding recommended lodging locations for those from out of town, details on getting to and from the studio, what to bring with you, etc.
About 3-4 weeks before the start of the class, partners will be assigned and scripts will be emailed out.

Potential students will be required to submit a headshot and resume for casting purposes and answer some brief questions.
