American Accent is ideal for any actor looking to work on their Standard American speech. Our Voice Director David Coury uses a very practical & technical approach to give actors tools to reduce their native accent while adding in the American sounds and retaining their full, authentic range of expression.
This section is geared toward both actors for whom English is their native language or if it’s their second language (ESL).
Without using quick tricks or shortcuts, Mr. Coury provides exercises and examples to get to the heart of specific, accurate pronunciation, all while applying the work to real scripts and written material. In addition to phonetics, actors will be taught how to mark up scripts & sides, learn how to practice with helpful examples, and discover how to get right to the sound.
This is a linguistic master class, with individual work-time built into each section, as well as homework in between meetings. Come prepared with an open heart, open mind, and ready to be vocal!
