Personalization: 3-Day Workshop

This workshop takes place in-person at our Los Angeles studio and is taught by master teacher Marilyn McIntyre!

Personalization is comprised of two Parts: Your Own “Story” and Your Own Imagination.

This 3-day Intensive will explore the fusion of the two parts of Personalization to experience the awareness, clarity, and connectedness of the actor’s mind, heart, and body. In this class, the focus will be on the first part, “Your Own Story” which will guide actors to safely take inventory of their own lives and their personal resources to use in their work. Explore and understand these essentials to be able to bring a fictional character to complex, spontaneous, and compelling life.

Acting is really about getting ready to act. Besides being physically and vocally prepared, the actor must also be emotionally prepared. The audience wants to be taken on a journey; you must be ready to go on the journey of the character, no matter how emotionally challenging the journey might be. Living truthfully in a fictional world, whatever that world may be, is always the goal.

BELIEF allows SPONTANEOUS LIFE to happen every time.

In a safe environment:
• More readily, deeply, yet privately access not merely your emotions and senses, but more completely your truest self for your acting (scenes, auditions, jobs).
• Use psychological/physical connections to more quickly release and heighten your personal instincts and impulses.
• Challenge the blocks to your passions and innate spirit for practical application to the work.

Friday— August 2 (4 pm – 9 pm)
Saturday— August 3 (4 pm – 9 pm)
Sunday— August 4 (10 am – 6 pm)

This is an intensive. The days are long. The work will challenge you. But the class is exciting, and surprising! Come prepared to dive in and work hard, but know there will be lots of fun and time for connecting with your fellow classmates as well. This is a unique and special class that is not regularly offered. It provides a great opportunity for breakthrough and growth in your own career, and also a chance to build friendships and working relationships with your classmates through the wonderful bonds that form during this intensive. As Marilyn McIntyre is an actor herself, she understands the respect and encouragement that helps create a most optimal environment for actors to feel safe, and to grow.

This intensive serves as the prerequisite for Personalization: A Deep Dive – Part Two, which focuses on Part Two of Personalization: “Your Own Imagination”.

About 1 week before the start of the class, assignments and materials will be emailed out.

The studio is happy to work with students who need to break up payments into multiple installments. Please contact info@howardfine.com for assistance.
