Stage and Screen Combat: Filming the Fight

Stage and Screen Combat: Filming the Fight

Filming the Fight is a showreel fight workshop — an opportunity to choreograph and film a fight scene.

PREREQUISITE: One session of Roberta Brown's "Acting the Fight" workshop.

In this two-day workshop, participants get to choreograph their own fight scenes, using unarmed stage and screen combat techniques learned in the Acting the Fight workshops. Day One students create and rehearse their fights, with choreography help and performance notes from Roberta. Day Two, the fights are filmed on students’ own cameras, so students can take the footage away with them to use in reels or however they choose.

Note that it is not necessary to memorize dialogue in preparation; the goal of the project is physical storytelling. Having a scene or scenario in mind in advance, however, will be helpful. Students should be prepared to bring whatever costumes are needed on the second day.

This class will be limited to 8 people, to assure personalized attention. Participants are encouraged to sign up in pairs if possible, but if multiple single participants are interested, we can pair them in class.

Class meets Saturday & Sunday, October 10th & 11th, 2026, from 3:30 pm - 7:30 pm!

$200.00
